Film.

We have made a short film in art class, by clicking on the link below you can see the result. We could make the film about anything we wanted so there was no subject we had to stick to. I hope you like it!

Bye,
Lois.

'I am' poem.

In art class we had to write a poem in the style of Judith Leyster. So we had to image we were her. I didn't really like this assignment because I don't really like (writing) poems. I got a 6.5 for it although it wasn't finished. Maybe I could have done better but it think the drawing/poem is not too bad.

Lois

Book jacket.

For this assignment we had to make a book jacket. We could choose ourself which kind of jacket to design. So as you see on the picture below I have designed a book jacket for my math book. unfortunately I was not completely finished, although I got a 7.5 for it. So I'm happy!

Bye,
Lois.

Photoshop.

In this activity, we had to start with a photo of ourself and then use imaging software to apply special effects and alterations. I have used the program Photoshop CS6. We had to start with the crop tool to eliminate any areas of our photo that we didn't want to keep, play with the size and rotation of our image and experiment with paint tools, filters, colour levels, and any other editing tools available. We could even add text and original graphics to our picture, or copy and paste multiple images of yourself! Below you see what I have made.

Bye, Lois.

Collage.

For art we had to make a collage which tells something about yourself. Below you see the one I have made. On it you see things I like, like food, shoes, tennis, gymnastic etc. I think I did a good job. I got a 7.0 for it.

Bye,
Lois.

One tree in four seasons.

In art class we had to draw one tree in the four seasons, spring, summer, autumn and winter. You had to choose yourself how to do this, drawing on big tree including four seasons or four smaller trees. Also could choose yourself what to use, paint, crayons etc. Below you see my drawing. I have drawn four trees and by using different colours I tried to shown the different seasons. I'm really happy about my drawing and I got a 8,0 for it!

Lois.

Letter about my self-portrait, just like Van Gogh.

Terneuzen,  29th November 2012
My dear Lennert,

I would’ve liked to have written sooner, and now I will not postpone it any longer. How are you? I heard that you have taken up soccer again, which team are you now in and how are your teammates? I hope very much you will drop me a line when you have a moment to spare, so we can catch up.

I’m doing well. However school is really getting at me, lots of homework, assignments and tests. Luckily we can let steam off in art class. We had to make a Van Gogh-style self-portrait. To work like Van Gogh we had to use his two essential qualities, so using complementary colours placed next to each other and using brush strokes placed side by side. In the painting you had to show a mood. To start I sketched a silhouette using a very light line then I painted the background with my set of 3 colours, black, red and yellow. I have put the brush strokes all over each other in all directions. Using other colours and brush strokes I painted my face and hair and after that my clothing with the same colours as used in the background. I think the mood I want to show is very clear. Anger, stress, confusion.

What do you think of my self-portrait? As you see on the picture it isn’t finished yet but I’ll work on it when I’ve time. Write me soon.

With a firm handshake,
Yours truly,
Lois
